Geraldine "Geri" Mares
March 8, 1938 - April 11, 2018

Geri entered this world on March 8, 1938 in Denver, Colorado, the baby girl of Eva and Gerald Redman. On April 11, 2018, Geri departed from Tyler, Texas, to reside in our Eternal home.
In between those dates, her birth and her departure, she lived an adventurous and full life. At the age of “sweet 16”, Geri met her greatest love and lifetime companion, Neal Price Mares. They were married on June 6, 1957, making their home in Colorado. To this union were born two children, a son, Neal Price Mares, Jr. and their daughter, Cheryl. After raising their children and retiring from the workforce, Geri and Neal sold the family home. Their new home became their RV. They were home in whatever state they set up in. After years of traveling the nation, they were invited to join their son and park their RV home on the ranch he had bought in Smith County, Tyler, Texas. Suffice it to say, that is exactly where Geri and Neal Sr. made their final home the past few years, living next to their loving son.

Geri wore many hats during her lifetime: Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Friend, Secretary and Homemaker. It is not possible to list all she was, and all she did, between the dash of her birth and departure. She loved and is loved by all those who survive her: Her husband, Neal Mares, Sr., her son and daughter-in-law, Neal Mares, Jr. and Carolyn all of Tyler, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Dean Prisco of Lakewood, CO. Grandchildren: Ethan Mares of Tyler, TX; Kayla Mares of Amarillo, TX; Scott Campbell, of Yuma, AZ; Andrew Campbell & wife, Niki of Ft. Meade, MD; Tyler Campbell of Amarillo, TX; Jeff Whiteside & wife, Shone of Gilmer, TX; Lisa Gesik-Modisette & husband Mitch of Hallsville, TX. Shelly Prisco of Lakewood, CO. Great Grandchildren: J.D. Whiteside, Azlee Whiteside of Gilmer, TX, Emma Whiteside of Tyler, TX, Griffin Gesik of Hallsville, TX; Austin and Addison Campbell of Yuma, AZ. In addition, Geri is survived by a sister, Maureen Russel of Brainerd, MN; sister-in-law Shirley Merkel of Grainville, OH, brother-in-law Ronald Mares of Canyon City, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life service is planned for 2:00 pm Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the ranch where Geri made her final earthly home.
