A memorial service for Larry Dean Mesker will be held at 4:00 p.m. at his home on September 2, 2017.

Larry Dean Mesker was born May 25, 1939 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Basil Wayne and Mable Ailene Mesker. He had been a resident of Van for the past 9 years, formerly residing in Valley Center, Kansas, Lewisville, Texas, and Canton, Texas. Mr. Mesker proudly served as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. He was a good friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand.

After an 8-year battle with cancer, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather has gone to be with our Lord on August 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Virgil Mesker, and son Andy McCollum, Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jo Ann Mesker of Van, Texas; daughter Kimberly Hensley her husband Ron Hensley of Fairview, Texas; daughter-in-law Jill McCollum of Conway, South Carolina; four grandsons Chad Crager and his husband Rich Dudley of Dallas, Texas, Bret Crager and his wife Laura Crager of Springtown, Texas, PFC Jesse Hunt of Ft. Riley, Kansas, and Andy McCollum, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two granddaughters Megan Holt and her husband Melvin Holt of Conway, South Carolina, and Summer McCollum of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; three great-grandsons, Hunter McCollum of Conway, South Carolina and Bryson McCollum of Conway, South Carolina; and John Crager of Springtown, Texas; two great-granddaughters Kendyl Holt of Conway South Carolina and Emily Crager of Springtown, Texas; two brothers Jerry Mesker and his wife Annmarie Mesker of Enterprise, Alabama and Richard Mesker and his wife Alda Mesker of Dallas, Texas.
