A memorial service will be held for Jack Valentine at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Van United Methodist Church.

Jacky Lee Valentine was born May 2, 1940 in Stinesville, Indiana. He then moved to Nebraska and later to Van, where he has been a resident since 1980. A true jack-of-all-trades, Jack could literally fix or build anything. He loved to build small-scale windmills, houses and barns. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honored with Citizen of the Year of Van, Texas. He served as director of both Van Oil Museum and Van Housing Authority for many years.

Jack passed away at the age of 77 on March 7, 2018 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Retha Valentine; brother, Loren Valentine; sister, Elna Rose Tackett; three half-sisters, nephew, Troy Valentine.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat Valentine of Van; three children and their spouses, Brian & Holly Valentine of Lufkin, Kelly & Sherry Valentine of Sulphur Springs, and Tammy & Chris Neufeld of Ft. Worth; and seven grandchildren, Cody Valentine, Emily Valentine, Kevin Lafferty, Dylan Valentine, Kylie Valentine, Mackenzie Valentine and Brennen Valentine. Other family members include a niece, Ashley & Jack Stephens; nephews, Randy Tackett, Terry Valentine and David & Suzanne Shumaker.
